LETTING MARKET 
 

The Ayrshire letting market in Quarter one 2015 is showing an increase in property lettings with more properties being needed for the market.  While January started slow in at Rentolease we had our busiest February in over five years with a new tenancy being created nearly every day. Quarter two has started well with an increase in demand for two and three bedrooms houses with one property in Prestwick being registered and rented on the same day. Demand has shown an increase in Prestwick and Ayr while the East Ayrshire market especially Kilmarnock is moving steadily. With the bank freeing up more funds the investor landlord is starting to move back into the market.

HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE NEW TENANCY FOR SCOTLAND

The Scottish Government has launched the  Second Consultation on a New Tenancy for the Private Sector. This builds on our first consultation, taking account of the responses to it and setting out more-developed proposals. The previous consultation had 2500 responses. They are seeking responses to this until midnight on 10 May 2015, which should be sent to PRSTenancies@scotland.gsi.gov.uk

At Rentolease our director David Toner will be submitting our views on this and we would urge all landlords and tenants to take part. The proposal has now been adapted to included further notice to quit for abandonment but has failed to keep the no fault ground currently used to end tenancies.
